Blog #4: 10/5/12
This week’s
reading is about the welfare of this nation and the disappearance of the middle
class. There was also an article about
the discrimination of the poor white class known as hillbillies. The middle class was said to be disappearing
because the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. They think that the rich need to give some of
the money that they earn to the poor to balance off the money distribution. I believe that there is a way for the poor to
have enough money to live on, but it is not with taking money from the
rich. To keep money and get richer, one
has to save some and know what the essentials are for everyday living. They need to, for the meantime, buy only what
they need and not necessarily what they want.
You do not need the latest and greatest to survive, no matter how much
the media portrays it.
The article
about the discrimination of the poor white lifestyle complains about how the
media pokes fun of the poor with television shows like the Beverly
Hillbillies. They also talk about the
nicknames given to the class that is mocking and rude along with being
contradictory to their actual lives. I
think that a little humor here and there is not very harmful, however, there is
a limit to the jokes and teasing. The
limit is not very straight forward but it should not get to a point that there
is teasing from every media and place in the county.
